Celebrating Diwali

Commonly known as the Festival of Lights, it’s celebrated by millions all over the world. Derived from the Sanskrit word ‘deepavali,’ the word Diwali means a ‘series of lighted lamps.’

While the festival has regional differences and varies according to religion, it’s an important celebration that commemorates the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. To celebrate, people make sure their homes are extra tidy, bright lights are shining and a feast is prepared to initiate the new beginnings.
