Celebrating America Recycles Day with RecycLA

[/av_textblock] [av_textblock size='16' font_color='' color='' av-medium-font-size='' av-small-font-size='' av-mini-font-size='' admin_preview_bg=''] Our Food Waste and Recovery Team in Los Angeles celebrated America Recycles Day by co-hosting a series of recycling events throughout the City. The events showcased the great work the “recycLA” program is doing to help reduce food waste. The event included tours of the following businesses and nonprofits:

  • MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity) - the largest food bank in the San Fernando Valley.
  • Discovery Cube - teaching school children and families the importance of recycling and how to do it.
  • Eco-Village Housing Complex – a non-profit housing complex dedicated to sustainable living.
  • Love Catering – a recycLA Star Award winner recognized under the City’s Green Business Certification Program as the first catering company to be certified.

Both MEND and Love Catering are Republic customers and worked closely with our team to improve their waste reduction and recycling programs. MEND has achieved 52% diversion, and Love Catering achieved 87% diversion from landfills.

RecycLA is part of Los Angeles’ commitment to enhance the quality of life and become the first big city in the nation to achieve zero waste by 2025.
