Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
Focus on Prevention

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a good time to think about your annual, routine cancer screenings. Regular cancer screenings check for signs of cancer before the appearance of symptoms. Republic’s preventive health services and screenings are available to help you manage your health. Finding breast cancer early improves the chances of successful treatment.

According to the American Cancer Society, there are several things you can do that may lower your likelihood of getting breast cancer. Here are five ways to help protect your breast health:

  • Get to and stay at a healthy weight
  • Be physically active and avoid time spent sitting
  • Follow a healthy eating pattern
  • Limit alcohol intake
  • Follow recommended screening guidelines
