Great American Smokeout is November 18

The American Cancer Society marks the third Thursday of every year as the Great American Smokeout, encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. The theme for this year’s Great American Smokeout is “Day 1,” reflecting the idea that quitting smoking takes time and a plan.

These steps can help guide you:

  • Write down your personal reasons for quitting
  • Avoid smoking triggers
  • Manage stress levels
  • Make your intentions known to your family and friends
