The holiday season is a favorite amongst many – fun, food, friends, and family is what it’s all about! Unfortunately, with all that fun, comes extra waste – statistics show, up to 25% more household waste! Oh my!
With a plan of action, there’s no reason for your sustainability goals to suffer during this holiday season. Here are some tips and tricks to help minimize your waste in the coming weeks.
- Choose Reusable: Cleaning up after the holidays is always a pain, but by using reusable plates and cutlery, there’s a significant drop in unnecessary items being sent to landfills.
- Share What’s Left: Who doesn’t love leftovers? This is a great way to minimize food waste.
- Keep it Clean: Don’t forget to rinse your recyclables. Plastic, metal, and aluminum containers must be emptied, rinsed, and dried in order to prevent any contamination at the recycling centers.
