Leo is three years old and loves everything about garbage trucks. Leo is also battling brain cancer, and when it came time to choose his one true wish, it was easy – to be a garbageman for a day. Thanks to Make-A-Wish Idaho and our local Republic team in Boise, Leo’s wish came true!
On August 31, Leo “reported for work” at 7 a.m. at Republic’s Boise hauling facility. Upon arrival, he received a tool kit gift from our technicians and the PPE he would need for the day. Leo’s collection route made its way to Boise City Hall where the Mayor, the fire department, police department and other city officials were there to greet Leo. He then got a tour of our landfill and recycling center – he even got to operate the machinery and sort some of the recyclables himself. His special wish day ended with a trip to IHOP, his favorite restaurant, where he got to order takeout waffles with whipped cream (his favorite).
A big thank you to our Boise team, including Billy C., Fleet Maintenance Manager and Driver Garry P., for making Leo’s dream come true!
