A Creative Spin on Community Giving in Washington Metro

BU119 Washington Metro loves giving back to its community and doing so in different and creative ways.  Initially, what began as a customer appreciation golf event soon became so much more. “When looking at the event, we quickly realized that our customers also cared about the community and so the search was on for which charity most aligned with the challenges our neighborhoods face. After suggestions from the sales team, we aligned with Miriam’s Kitchen, a local Washington DC charity that supports our veterans as well as those with food insecurities,” said Lisa M., General Manager.

The charity event included sponsorship packages where vendors were recognized at either a specific tee or recognition at lunch. After paying for the costs of the event, the sponsorship dollars allowed for a $2,500 donation to Miriam’s Kitchen. “While working with our vendors, we were also collecting food and clothing donations from our employees. Topping off all that, we sold mulligans at the tournament raising another $900!” Lisa said.

Despite the hot temps that day, everyone had a fabulous time. BU119 leads with its heart for their customers and their community!
