Our team recently joined the City of San Pablo to celebrate an exciting milestone for Republic Services and California – the state’s first all-electric residential recycling and waste collection fleet.
City leaders, community partners and employees came together to mark the occasion and highlight the impact the all-electric fleet will have on the community.
“Today, we’re excited to celebrate an important moment for Republic Services and a meaningful step toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for San Pablo, and California. This rollout represents what’s possible when we come together with a shared commitment to innovation and protecting out environment,” said General Manager Shawn M.
San Pablo’s new electric fleet features the industry’s first fully integrated electric refuse truck, the McNeilus Volterra ZSL. Equipped with advanced technology and modern safety features, the Volterra can complete entire routes on a single charge while producing zero emissions.
For San Pablo, switching to an all-electric fleet is a direct step toward its Climate Action Plan goal of reducing emissions 30% below 2005 levels by 2035. For people in the community, it means cleaner air and quieter streets on trash pickup days.
