2024 Sustainability Report: Helping Employees in Need

In 2024, Republic Services employees showed what it truly means to take care of one another. Through the Employee Relief Fund, more than 2,400 employees and their families received support during times of crisis, making this the program’s most impactful year yet.

Last year brought an unusually severe hurricane season, with storms like Beryl, Francine, Helene and Milton leaving thousands without power, fuel and basic necessities. In response, employees across the country rallied together, providing meals, emergency supplies, gift cards and comfort to coworkers in need.

That spirit of generosity also came through during our Season of Giving. Employees raised more than $300,000 for hurricane relief efforts, and Republic Services matched their contributions, bringing total aid to over $600,000.

The Employee Relief Fund is more than a program. It’s proof of the strength and compassion of our workforce. By supporting one another, we are living out our values and building a Human-Centered culture where no one stands alone in times of hardship.
