Food and yard waste make up nearly a third of what ends up in landfills. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Thanks to your efforts, we’re helping communities turn organic waste into something more.
In 2024, Republic Services processed 2.2 billion pounds of food and yard waste through our organics recycling operations. That material became more than 1.4 million pounds of beneficial compost, supporting farmers, gardeners and renewable energy production across the country.
This success comes from the work you do every day. With new and expanded composting facilities, including a large-scale site in development in San Bernardino County, we’re building the infrastructure to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and divert waste from landfills.
