There’s a lot to be excited about as we head into another ROAD-EO Season! This is a qualifying year for the 2023 ROAD-EO National Championship, so we are calling on all eligible Drivers, Operators and Techs to participate in their local BU ROAD-EO competition for a chance to win a spot at Nationals!
Here’s a closer look at what’s in store for competitors:
Drivers battle an obstacle course, which require maneuvers like weaving through barriers in forward and backward directions, parallel parking and alley backing parking, among others. Judging is based on time and distance to obstacles – within mere inches!
Heavy Equipment Operators are challenged with maneuvering through each station without disturbing soil or striking any barrels. Their tasks include forward and backward driving, picking up and dumping materials, a 360-degree reverse turn and pushing barrels between barriers.
Technicians are assigned either a collection or post-collection vehicle. They are given just 10 minutes to identify 10 different problems on the vehicle.
And in the end, first, second and third place winners are awarded in each of the following eight categories:
Winners of the BU ROAD-EO go on to be ranked at the Area level and from there, approximately 84 Finalists are chosen to compete at the ROAD-EO National Championship held in Phoenix, Arizona.
ROAD-DO National Championship Finalists receive an expense-paid trip for two to Phoenix, pay for their time away, luxury accommodations, hosted dinners and activities, a day competing at the ROAD-EO, an awards celebration, gifts from Republic Services and much more!
Additionally, first, second and third place winners of the ROAD-EO National Championship receive cash prizes and paid time off (PTO). It’s an amazing event and a great time of celebration.
