Main Streets across America are hurting. Stay-at-home orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic forced many of them to close their doors for weeks or even months. And just as they began to reopen, protests and curfews have led to additional closures.
We know that small businesses are the cornerstone of strong and vibrant neighborhoods. That’s why we’re taking our already strong partnerships with three national nonprofit organizations and ramping up our support to help them during these unprecedented and challenging times.
Through our Committed to Serve initiative, we are joining longstanding partners Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity International and NeighborWorks America in a $3 million effort to help small businesses not only survive but thrive.
Each of the national nonprofits will receive a $1 million grant from our Foundation that will be used to fund small business revitalization projects identified by their affiliate organizations across the country.
The granted funds will be used to support locally owned and operated businesses in need of critical repair, renovation or support to stay in business and thrive following the COVID-19 pandemic. These projects will be selected and funded by Sept. 1, and could include surrounding business infrastructure, business corridors and landscaping, as well as repairs and investment supporting the small business itself.
These grants will strengthen Republic’s partnership with the three national nonprofits, whose work the Foundation already supports through its National Neighborhood Promise program. Through National Neighborhood Promise, the Foundation has funded 47 unique projects positively impacting 1 million residents.
The Foundation, our charitable partners and our local leadership teams together will help bring the life back to Main Streets across America. Interested in learning more, email Foundation@RepublicServices.com.
